Scientific Research Organisations

The project is being implemented in three Scientific Research Organizations (SROs):  the University of Belgrade – Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy – National Institute of the Republic of Serbia (ICTM), which is the Lead SRO, while the partner institutions are the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Chemistry (UBFC) and the Innovative Centre, Faculty of Chemistry, Belgrade, ltd. (ICFC). These three institutions are the leading centers for scientific research in the field of chemical sciences in Serbia.

Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy (ICTM)

The Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy, ICTM, continues the tradition of the first State Chemical Laboratory, which was founded in 1859 by Prince Miloš Obrenović. ICTM is an institute within the University of Belgrade, and, since 2018, has had the prestigious status of a National Institute of the Republic of Serbia. The institute’s activities take place in six scientific departments, two Centers of excellence, and one accredited laboratory. ICTM employs about 200 researchers, of which more than 150 are PhDs. The main activities of ICTM are fundamental and applied multidisciplinary research in organic, inorganic, medical, computational, and analytical chemistry, as well as spectroscopic characterization, biochemistry, catalysis, and chemical engineering.

Faculty of Chemistry (UBFC)

University of Belgrade — Faculty of Chemistry (UBFC) is among Serbia’s most prestigious scientific institutions. UBFC is organized through six departments and one Center of Excellence. The principal activity of UBFC is higher education, which encompasses studies at the BSc, MSc, and Ph.D. levels (UBFC enrolls 180 students in chemistry at the BSc level every year). It carries out its scientific activity as an equally important aspect of its general activities. Department of General and Inorganic chemistry at UBFC, with expertise in synthetic and computational coordination chemistry, owns all necessary equipment and knowledge for the implementation of the Project.

Innovative Centre, Faculty of Chemistry, Belgrade, ltd. (ICFC)

Innovative Centre, Faculty of Chemistry, Belgrade, ltd. (ICFC), was founded in 2009 as an organization that systematically develops and applies scientific and professional knowledge to create new and improve existing products, technologies, processes and services. ICFC’s activities include research and experimental development in natural, technical and technological sciences and technological development, development and participation in the implementation of domestic and international projects.
